Editorial policy
These are the standards every page on Top8Reviews is written and checked against, from a category guide to a published ranking.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made by editors and researchers alone. Businesses, sponsors and commercial partners cannot review, approve or change an assessment before or after it is published. A business may correct a factual error through the corrections process, which works the same way for everyone.
How a ranking is produced
Every ranking follows the same sequence: define the category, market and eligibility rules; research candidates from first-party information and independent evidence; record each source with its date and reliability; score every criterion against the rubric with a written rationale; check the work for accuracy, consistency, conflicts and fair language; obtain an editor's approval; publish with the scope, date, sources and disclosures; and reassess on schedule or after a material event.
Evidence standards
Facts about licences, registrations, regulatory actions and legal requirements come from official sources: government sites, regulators, statutory registers and recognised schemes. Claims a business makes about itself are labelled as such until we can confirm them. We do not copy supplier descriptions, and we do not publish figures we cannot source.
Fair treatment and language
Assessments describe strengths and limitations in measured terms that the evidence supports. Before a negative finding is published, the wording is reviewed for accuracy and fairness, and where it rests on a disputed fact the business is offered a chance to respond.
Conflicts of interest
Researchers and editors declare personal, financial or family connections to any business they might assess, and step aside where one exists. Commercial staff have no role in editorial work. Gifts, free services and hospitality from businesses we cover are declined.
Updates and corrections
Every page shows when it was last reviewed. Errors are corrected promptly, and a correction that changes a score or a ranking position is noted on the page with the date. Our corrections page explains how anyone, including a business, can report an error.
